PGCR FAQ ![]() Q) Are the situations in your comic autobiographical in any way? A) No, definitely not. First of all, the main two characters are female and I'm not. Though the characters may share a trait or two of people I know RL, they are not directly based off of any one person. The situations portrayed, for the most part, are also completely ficticious, but I may sometimes grab something from real life. For instance, the Missionary of Doom storyline was written out of frustration at the local JW Missionaries that would wake me up at like 8am no matter how much I politely told them I'm not interested. Also, Perki's apartment is laid out like the old efficiency apartment that I lived in a few years ago. And the comic takes place in a furry alternate dimension version of Dallas, TX. Otherwise, that's where the similarities between the comic and my life end.
Q) Speaking of Missionary of Doom, do you have some big thing against religion? A) Of course not. I just have something against being woken up at the ass-crack of dawn after I politely made it clear on many occasions that I'm not interested.
Q) What was up with that donation drive a few years ago? A) Oh dear God... please don't remind me of that. That was a dumb dumb dumb move on my part. I see Randy Milholland (Creator of Something Positive ) make upwards of 20k in a matter of days and I was all like "Hurr, if he can do that, I can!", forget the fact that Randy's comic is immensely more popular than this one. Nowadays, I still have a Paypal donation button up, but you don't have to give me a single cent if you don't want to. I draw PG/CR coz I want to, not for money.
Q) You mentioned working towards actual printed comics. Why haven't I seen anything yet? A) That is still something I'm working on. My inking skills are still much to be desired, so maybe one of these days, one of the various companies I send submissions to will print my stuff.
Q) What's with these hiatuses you take? It's a once-a-week comic. How hard can it be to draw something once a week? A) Well, it's not like it's the only thing I do. I also got commissions, submissions to various printed-comic companies that I'm working on, as well as my job, and my life outside all of that to think about too.
Q) What's up with the Perki/Nicki storyline? Are you capitolizing off a similar contraversial storyline in Better Days? A) Nope. Had this one in the works for some time. Also, very much unlike Fisk and Lucy, Perki and Nicki never did the deed, though their lives are riddled with rumours that they did. It's setting the stage for a future storyline that I plan on doing later down the line. I'm not gonna spoil it for you, but I will say that their past indescretions will affect Nicki negatively in his adult life.
Q) What is up with Spooky? I mean, she has wing membranes between her arms... how the hell does she manage to wear shirts? A) Easy. Shirts are slit up the sides and tie in through grommets pierced in her membrane. That question gets answered here. Though it creates a whole new slew of questions that I'm gonna be a bastard about and leave that to the imagination. ^_^
Q) This comic features anthropomorphic animals... that must mean you're a furry. If so, why does your comic not feature any porn or explicit nudity? I mean isn't the fandom all about sex? A) Yes, I'm a furry. No, I'm not some sort of pervert/deviant/sex-fiend that the likes of Vanity Fair or CSI would like you to believe. Actually, nor are the majority of furries. But you know the media doesn't want to hear about the regular joe that just simply digs anthro animals in various mediums. I strive to keep my comic work-safe (IE: safe to read on your computer at work without getting in trouble). The topics/situations/language in my comic may be risque, but there is no explicitly sexual content here. Now, if you're a furry and reading this, I'm not condemning/judging/insulting anybody here. If you're into something, fine. Good for you. But that something may or may not be my cup of tea. And I'm just kind of worn down by the overabundance of explicitly adult material out there. I mean, shit. I'm not a total prude. I still enjoy the occasional issue of Genus or Heavy Metal Magazine. But it kinda annoys me that I have to wear a welding mask when checking the recent uploads page on VCL. I guess I'm just an old fogey. Hell, I'm one of the last people in the fandom that knows what a 'zine is for crying out loud. Bottom line here is I'm speaking for myself. The fandom is made up of a lot of people everyone with their own distinct views. No less valid than mine.
Q) Your other comic, MPLH, does it tie in to PG/CR in any way? A) As a matter of fact, it does, if you haven't gathered that from Efret and Gideon's appearances in PG/CR or Nicki's appearance in MPLH. PG/CR is more of a 'slice of life' type comic, more grounded in real-life (and sometimes cartooney-comedy) situations, while MPLH delves into the supernatural aspect of this imaginary world.
And that pretty much does it for the FAQ so far. If you have any other questions answered here, feel free to email me at mutt12@gmail.com! |
